Moving to Wagga

Postby gez » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:22 am

Hi,
Im moving to Wagga In June from Geraldton in WA, although I am orignially from the UK.

Im an obsessionally keen mountin biker. I brought my custom built Merlin hard tail out from the UK and hopefully will have it in Wagga.

Im keen as mustad to meet some fellow dirt junkies. I genrally ride cross country with some jumping about. Ive raced both cross counrty and adventure races.

Do you guys have regular meet ups??

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey Gez,
Your Merlin sounds nice, any pics?

Plenty of keen mtber's here. Lucky you like your cross country as thats pretty much all we've got here. Quite a few people are getting into the Marathon events of which these days there are many to choose from.

We use to have a regular ride but I dont think it runs anymore. You can normally head out to Pomingalana on a Sunday morning and you will be sure to run into someone. Doing a lap in reverse helps as well ;)

Come out to our next event and introduce yourself. We're pretty friendly and you might be able to hook up a ride with someone (namely Mick and out at Livingstone :D ).

G'day Gez,

Most weekends I am available to head out to Livingstone which is one of the best places I have ever ridden and I consider fantastic for hardtails. It is tough but I suit the ride to the rider's ability which I assess a bit on what I call a beginners loop or by having a chat. Sound about right Ben?

I check the forum regularly or email me at mloughlin@csu.edu.au.

I am not around this weekend.

Hi
well Ive finally arrived in Wagga. With just one small problem...

I decided to drive from Perth to Wagga. Was an awesome adventure, all be it a very long drive. My mountian bike was on the roof of my 4 wheel dive upside down with the wheels removed.
First day i drove a fatigue inducing 600kms straight, pulled in to servo and heard a loud bang and the gut wrenching sound of metal on metal...upon reflection there was no way my 4 wheel drive was going to fit into the 3mt car port with bike, boxes and surfboard on the roof...lesson learned.

My Marzocchi bombers took the brunt of the impact and have clean snapped in half...Im hoping to replace them and the head set this week.

So...is anyone riding this coming weekend, who fancies showing me some of the local tails??

thanks

Hi Gez,

Ouch!! The last thing you would have been thinking about after driving in so much wide open space!!

Welcome to Wagga. If you are keen and the bike is repaired in time, there is an interclub series (RAMBO - Riverina Alpine Mountain Bike Open) on this Sunday at Mt Beauty which is about 2 hours drive away. A few from the club are going.

Otherwise if it isn't too wet, there is a night ride on at our main local track Pomi on Wednesday night. There is also a possibility of a ride at Livingstone (20 mins out of town) on Saturday. Michael Loughlin will confirm later in the week on the forum. If Livingstone doesn't go ahead a few of us can show you around the Wagga trails on Saturday.

I am interested in a Livingstone ride on Saturday morning. I can not do another time because I will be heading to Mt Beauty later in the day. So Gez if you want/can just reply on the forum or contact me on 69215276 and we can arrange a time.

Are you still interested Angela?
